Tarangire National Park Full-Day Safari Experience (Fly in)

About this experience

Choosing the fly-in option from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar allows you to skip long travel hours and dive straight into your adventure. By flying directly into the region, you save valuable time, ensuring you arrive fresh and ready for the wilderness.

Located only 140 km from Arusha, Tarangire is easily accessible, which means more time for actual game drives. This short distance ensures that the majority of your day is spent exploring habitats rather than sitting in a vehicle.

The park is famous for its massive elephant population and prehistoric landscape dotted with ancient baobab trees. During the dry season, the Tarangire River draws in huge herds of wildebeest, zebra, and buffalo for incredible wildlife viewing.

Unlike crowded parks, Tarangire offers a quieter and more intimate experience. This allows you to immerse yourself in nature and enjoy the animals without the typical safari crowds.

Itinerary and highlights

Upon arriving at Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in the Arusha region, about 647 km north of Dar es Salaam. Known as "The Geneva of Africa" for its peaceful atmosphere and diplomacy role, Arusha is the gateway to Tanzania’s most famous parks, including the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.

Though not as developed as Dar es Salaam, Arusha has a charm of its own. Depending on your schedule, you can explore local attractions like Arusha National Park, with stunning views of Mount Meru and diverse wildlife, including giraffes and flamingos.

For a cultural experience, visit the vibrant Maasai Market, where you can shop for handmade goods and textiles. The Cultural Heritage Centre is another highlight, showcasing Tanzanian art, while the Arusha Declaration Museum offers insight into the country's political history. Arusha’s unique blend of nature and culture makes it an unforgettable stop in Tanzania.

Your trip will begin early in the morning, departing from Arusha between 05:30 and 06:00. After a two-hour drive, about 140 km, you’ll reach Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant population and beautiful landscapes. Tarangire, Tanzania's sixth largest park, offers a blend of wildlife and cultural richness.

During the dry season, the Tarangire River draws herds of elephants and other wildlife like zebras, giraffes, and buffaloes. You may also spot predators such as lions and leopards, making it a prime location for game viewing. The park’s iconic baobab trees and sweeping savannahs add to its charm.
Enjoy lunch in the park, observing elephants and other wildlife in their natural habitat. The nearby Maasai culture enhances the experience, giving you a taste of local traditions.
After your adventure, you'll return to Arusha for dinner, relaxation, and an overnight stay at your hotel or catch your flight.
